57th National School Under 14 Cricket Tournament

National cricket tournament

A three day national cricket tournament for the under 14 age group was held at various grounds in Mumbai from 26th December 2011 to 30th December 2011. It was organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, Maharashtra under the Auspices of the School Game Federation of India with event being managed by Mr. Mhote (Deputy Director of Sports, Mumbai). The opening ceremony of the event was done at Wankhade stadium on 26th December 2011.

Twenty states participated in this tournament and there were around 500 participants.The inauguration was by done by Minister Mr. Jaywant Patil and Ex-Indian Captain & Legendary cricketer, Mr. Dilip Vengsarkar, was the guest of honor. The competition was very tough and the participants played their heart out to win the game.

The highly rated Maharashtra team was out of the tournament at the Pre- Quarters stage. The Semi finals were played between Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh with the Haryana and Delhi teams reaching the finals. The team from Haryana won the tournament by eight wickets. “I am very proud of my boys they played very well” says the coach of the team Mr. Rinku Dalal after winning the tournament.

RESULTS:

Manof the Series: Gurupreeth Singh (153 Runs & 11 Wickets) from Haryana

Manof the Match(Final): Prashant Dalal with 93 unbeaten runs

BestBowler: Md. Nadeem (UP) with 13 wickets

BestBatsman: Kunal Dabas (Delhi) with 343 runs
