Great Tournament


The fourth State Level Ranking Tournament which began on August 2 at Sahyog Mandir hall came to an end on August 6. With great participation and excellent performances the tournament went off quite smoothly. Participation of international level players added a bigger value to this tournament. The tournament scheduled with total 10 events for these five days had semi-finals for Junior, Youth and Open group and the finals on the last day, August 6. And the finely chosen winners from the tournament were then applauded and appreciated for their performances in the closing ceremony.

With semi-finals and finals played between the best of best players from different districts of our state, Sahyog Mandir hall was packed with players, parents and their coaches. Everyone was cheering for their team and district. The complete tournament witnessed great performances, cheering and enthusiasm. But all this was doubled up on the last day of this tournament.

Withthe final match played between Rohit Chaudhary and Omkar Torgalkar the tournament came to an end. The excitement and enthusiasm seen in the tournament lasted till the last match. After this amazing match, began the closing ceremony where all the players and the winners were acknowledged for their performances and their contribution for making the tournament successful.

Key persons of Maharashtra State Table Tennis Association (M.S.T.T.A) and ThaneDistrict Table Tennis Association were present for the closing ceremony of the fourthState Level Ranking Tournament. The Chief Guest for this ceremony was Dr. Inamdar, Vice President of M.S.T.T.A, along with him President of M.S.T.T.A Satish Pradhan, Yatin Tipnis, Rajeev Karnik, Dr. Shivaji Sarode of M.S.T.T.A were also present. All the authorities of M.S.T.T.A were happy with the level of performances given by the participants, record break entries and also with the arrangements made by Rotary Club of Thane.

The chief guest of the tournament, Dr. Inamdar said in his speech, “If given a chance I would be more than happy to sit in the audience’s chair as a parent than sitting her on the podium”. Dr. Inamdar himself is an excellent Table Tennis player and even his two daughters are into this sport. He is of the opinion that every child should be introduced to sports to maintain his physical fitness. He congratulated all the winners and motivated the ones who have lost this time. In the end he just asked all the players to focus on attending perfection.

After this all the winners were presented with certificates, trophies and cash prizes. The total cash prize for this tournament was of Rs. 70,000. All the districts performed their best, but Mumbai district was ahead of everyone, and our Thane district gave a tough fight and was at second position.
