Inter National Players Raised The Standard Of The Tournament

Just after the Thane District Table Tennis Ranking Tournament came to an end immediately State Ranking Tournament began at Sahyog MandirHall,Thane from August 2. The tournament is jointly organized by Hithawardhini Sabha Naupada Thane &Rotary Club of Thane. The tournament will be held under the auspices of Maharashtra State Table Tennis Association (M.S.T.T.A) and Thane District Table Tennis Association (TDTTA).

The tournament began with an opening ceremony on August 2 at 9am. Satish Pradhan,President of Maharashtra State Table Tennis Association inaugurated the event.Along with him Rajeev Karnik, President of Rotary Club of Thane and even Vidhyadhar Damle, President of Hithawardhini Sabha also marked their valuable presence. The opening ceremony was followed by the actual tournament, which began with the matches between Sub-Junior boys.

Around 873 players from all over Maharashtra have participated in this tournament. Madhurika Patkar and Mamta Prabhu, silver medalist of Common Wealth Games are the main attractions of this tournament, who are from our Thane city itself. Alongwith them, international stars like Pooja Sahasrabudhe,Aniket Koparkar,Sanil Shetty are also participating in this State Level Ranking Tournament. With such amazing talents, it is indeed a must watch tournament.

Participants from every district are ready to give tough fight to their competitor. Even the coaches accompanying them are extremely excited about the tournament and are keeping a keen watch on the performances of their own player as well as their competitors. Sangram Chavan, a Table Tennis coach from Kolhapur said, “I am attending all the matches of my students of this State Level Ranking Tournament. This helps me to know where exactly a particular student is good at and where he needs to improve.”

Righton the first day, matches were conducted for Sub-Junior group and Cadet boys, on the second day, August 3, there were matches for Cadet girls, Sub Junior boys, along with quarter final matches of Sub-Junior group and Cadet group followed by semi-finals for the same groups. On August 4, qualifying matches for Junior group and youth group were held. And on the same day, finals for Cadet group and Sub-Junior group were also conducted. As soon as the finals, qualifying matches for the Men’s group began.

OnAugust 5, matches for Women’s group will start, and then there will be matchesfor the Junior boys and Men’s group. After the completion of all the qualifying matches, quarter finals for Youth and Open group will take place. And on the last and final day, August 6, semi-finals for Junior, Youth and Open group will be conducted and then the finals. The tournament will come to an end with prize distribution ceremony.

All the participants will be presented with participation certificates and the winners will be presented with trophies, certificates and a total cash prize distributed in this State level tournament will be of Rs. 70,000.
