Premier League adds local excitement to the ongoing cricket fever

With cricket fever going on all around the world, Thane is not left behind. From 1st April, Maharashtra Maza Seva Sanstha had organized the 2nd Thane Premiere League (TPL)at Dadoji Kondev Stadium which continued till 6th April. Around 12 teams from Thane had actively participated in this tournament.

If the IPL has their cheer leaders to add a touch of glamour to cricket, TPL had a DJ who played music when ever someone hit a four, six or someone managed to take a wicket.  The organizing committee had even arranged for flags to each team which were flying high on the Dadoji Kondev Stadium.

With so many arrangements, the opening ceremony for TPL was held at Dadoji Kondev stadium itself on 1st April where Eknath Shinde, Pratap Sarnaik, Ashok Vaity and many other dignitaries of Thane were present. The best part after the opening ceremony was that all these dignitaries were seen playing cricket with the participants and everyone present at the stadium had a great time.

For the first four days knock out matches were carried on which were followed by semi finals on 5th April and final on 6th April. The semi finals were played between Shalgaonkar Sports club Vs Sunrise sports club. Sunrise sports club won by four wickets. The second semi final was played between Eknath Shinde sports club and PWD, and Eknath Shinde Sports club emerged as winners.

On 6th of April, final match was held between the winners of the semi final round where Sunrise Sports club gave a tough fight to Eknath Shinde Sports club. Both the teams managed to engage everyone till the last ball. But right on the last ball, a boundary was hit by Sunrise Sports club and they emerged as the clear winners of this Thane Premiere League.
